Summary	ATP6V1A encodes a component of vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase), a multisubunit enzyme that mediates acidification of eukaryotic intracellular organelles. This encoded protein is one of two V1 domain A subunit isoforms and is found in all tissues. Transcript variants derived from alternative polyadenylation exist. The deduced 617-amino acid protein has a predicted molecular mass of about 68 kD and shows 99% sequence identity with the bovine brain subunit A. Northern blot analysis revealed ubiquitous expression of a major 4.8-kb band and a minor 3.4-kb band. They also identified a variant, which they designated HO68, encoding a 615-amino acid protein.
