A brief introduction on Collagen types characteristics and detection methods
Collagen, mainly found in animal connective tissues, is the most abundant mammal protein, accounting for 25-35% of the total body protein content. Collagen can be divided into fiber type and non-fiber type. The most common types are Type I, Type II, Type III, Type IV, Type V. Wherein Type I, II, III, V are fibrous, Type IV is non-fibrous. So far 28 kinds of collagen are found, while over 90% are Type I.
Collagen can be used for cosmetic surgery, bone grafts, tissue regeneration, wound healing, etc. Further, collagen mutations lead to diseases, including osteogenesis imperfecta, achondroplasia, osteoporosis and so on.
Consequently, research on collagen has significant meanings, and has great relationship with human health and practical applications. The Cloud-Clone Corp. developed products on almost all types and subtypes of collagen for reserchers’ application.
Our advantages:
1. Varieties. A total of about 78 kinds of target proteins, hundreds of products have been developed. Take Collagen Type I Alpha 1 as an example, related products include recombinant protein, peptide with different conjugates, Monoclonal antibodies, polyclonal antibodies with different labels, Elisa kits, etc.
2. Fully Validated
The correctness need to be verified before the next R&D step:
Collagen Type I Alpha 1, we have designed two fragments of the protein, after recombinant proteins expression, SDS-PAGE is arranged; Then for antibodies, western blot, IHC and other tests are arranged. The following are the testing results
Type I Alpha 1, we got SEA350Hu, the sensitivity is 13.1pg/mL.
[ RECOVERY ]
Matrices listed below were spiked with certain level of recombinant COL1a1 and the recovery rates were calculated by comparing the measured value to the expected amount of COL1a1 in samples.
Table1. The recovery data of SEA350Hu
Matrix | Recovery range (%) | Average(%) |
serum(n=5) | 88-98 | 93 |
EDTA plasma(n=5) | 80-103 | 96 |
heparin plasma(n=5) | 83-92 | 87 |

Table2. The linearity data of SEA350Hu
Sample | 1:2 | 1:4 | 1:8 | 1:16 |

3. Reliability. Regarding SEA350Hu, there’re four literatures which have application on the kit.
