Top-Ranked ELISA Kits (Brain Natriuretic Peptide BNP). Vol.6 (2019)
Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), also known as B-type Natriuretic Peptide, which is mainly synthesized and secreted by ventricular myocytes. The main factors to stimulate BNP secretion are the changes in ventricular load and wall tension. It plays a significant role in regulating the homeostasis of blood pressure and blood volume, diuresis and so on. BNP is species-specific. Rat BNP is composed of 45 amino acids, while pig, dog, and human BNP are composed of 32 amino acids. The gene fragment of human BNP is located at the distal end of the short arm of chromosome 1 and is linked to the upstream ANP fragment. its reverse transcriptional deoxyribonucleic acid (cDNA) consists of 1900 nucleotides. The BNP messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) consists of 900-1000 nucleotides, which can be expressed as a BNP precursor, and the N-terminal is removed. It can be expressed as a BNP precursor, or the Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide (ProBNP) consisting of 108 amino acids after removing N-terminal signal peptides. However, it is not stored in secretory granules. It is mainly secreted from ventricle and decomposed into bioactive BNP (C-terminal fragment containing 32 amino acids) and N-terminal fragments during secretion or after entering blood. Finally, the active BNP binds to the receptor and exerts its biological function.
