Immunoglobulin Superfamily, Member 2 (IGSF2)
[Edit]CD101; V7; EWI-101; Cell surface glycoprotein V7; Glu-Trp-Ile EWI motif-containing protein 101
Sequence analysis predicted that the 1,021-amino acid IGSF2 is a type I integral transmembrane protein that has a 20-amino acid hydrophobic signal sequence, a 934-amino acid extracellular domain, a 25-amino acid transmembrane domain, and a short, highly charged 42-amino acid cytoplasmic domain.
The extracellular portion contains 7 pairs of regularly spaced cysteine residues suggestive of a variable type Ig-like protein. Northern blot analysis revealed strong expression of a 3.6-kb transcript in monocytes, peripheral blood lymphocytes, and lung, and weaker expression in spleen, thymus, and small intestine. An additional minor transcript of 6.4 kb, which may represent an incompletely spliced transcript, was also seen.
