Autocrine Motility Factor Receptor (AMFR)

Autocrine motility factor is a tumor motility-stimulating protein secreted by tumor cells. Autocrine motility factor receptor is a glycosylated transmembrane protein and a receptor for autocrine motility factor. The receptor, which shows some sequence similarity to tumor protein p53, is localized to the leading and trailing edges of carcinoma cells.

Specific receptor for the autocrine motility factor. Possesses ubiquitin ligase activity and can target both itself and other proteins including CD3D and APOB for proteasomal degradation. Mediates tumor invasion and metastasis. Component of a complex required to couple deglycosylation and proteasome- mediated degradation of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulun that are retrotranslocated in the cytosol. Involved in ubiquitin-proteasome systems.
