Ubiquitin Specific Peptidase 24 (USP24)
[Edit]Ubiquitin Carboxyl-Terminal Hydrolase 24; Ubiquitin Specific Protease 24; Deubiquitinating enzyme 24; Ubiquitin thioesterase 24
Modification of cellular proteins by ubiquitin is an essential regulatory mechanism controlled by the coordinated action of multiple ubiquitin-conjugating and deubiquitinating enzymes.
USP24 belongs to a large family of cysteine proteases that function as deubiquitinating enzymes . The extent of this transcript is supported by alignments of human and mouse transcripts. The coding region has been updated to represent an alternative splicing pattern that is more supported by the available transcript and protein data. There are no full-length transcripts representing this update, but it is supported by a combination of partial human transcript alignments and homologous mouse transcript alignments. The update completes a UBA domain (Pfam prediction) in the protein.
