F-Box Protein 28 (FBXO28)
Members of the F-box protein family, such as FBXO28, are characterized by an approximately 40-amino acid F-box motif. SCF complexes, formed by SKP1, cullin, and F-box proteins, act as protein-ubiquitin ligases. F-box proteins interact with SKP1 through the F box, and they interact with ubiquitination targets through other protein interaction domains.
F-box proteins are proteins containing at least one F-box motif, a protein structural motif of about 50 amino acids that mediates protein-protein interactions. The first identified F-box protein is one of three components of the SCF complex, which mediates ubiquitination of proteins targeted for degradation by the proteasome. F-box proteins have also been associated with cellular functions such as signal transduction and regulation of the cell cycle.
