Anoctamin 4 belongs to the anoctamin family. May act as a calcium-activated chloride channel. The sequence BAC03688.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
By database searching with the sequence of TMEM16A as query, Katoh and Katoh (2003) identified TMEM16D. The deduced 920-amino acid TMEM16D protein shares 38.6% sequence identity with TMEM16A. Like TMEM16A, TMEM16D contains 8 potential transmembrane regions with the N- and C-terminal tails facing the cytoplasm and an N-linked glycosylation site in the fourth extracellular loop.By sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2003) mapped the TMEM16D gene to chromosome 12q23.
