Anoctamin 7 (ANO7)
[Edit]PCANAP5; TMEM16G; NGEP; PCANAP5L; IPCA-5; D-TMPP; Dresden transmembrane protein of the prostate; New gene expressed in prostate; Prostate cancer-associated protein 5
The deduced 932-amino acid protein shares 76.7% amino acid identity with mouse Tmem16g. Other members of the TMEM16 protein family, including mouse Tmem16g, contain 8 transmembrane domains with cytoplasmic N and C termini, but human TMEM16G has only 7 transmembrane domains due to a thr844-to-asn substitution that causes misfolding of the eighth transmembrane domain. In silico analysis revealed TMEM16G expression in normal prostate, prostate cancer, iris, medulla, and HeLa cells.Higher molecular mass species were also detected, suggesting posttranslational modification. Immunolocalization of transfected cells showed the NGEP-S protein localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm and the NGEP-L protein localized on the plasma membrane.
