Keratinocyte Associated Protein 1 (KRTCAP1)

PERP was downregulated in mammary carcinoma cell lines compared with nonmalignant mammary epithelium cell lines, in pancreas cell lines derived from metastases compared with a primary tumor cell line, and in several tumor tissues compared with normal tissues.

PERP was downregulated in the metastasizing cell line. The deduced PERP protein contains 193 amino acids and has 4 transmembrane domains, 2 extracellular domains, and 3 cytoplasmic domains. Northern blot analysis using a multiple tissue array detected PERP expression in all adult and fetal tissues tested except peripheral blood leukocytes. Highest expression was in esophagus and trachea.
