Dynein, Axonemal, Heavy Chain 10 (DNAH10)

Dyneins are microtubule-associated motor protein complexes composed of several heavy, light, and intermediate chains. The axonemal dyneins, found in cilia and flagella, are components of the outer and inner dynein arms attached to the peripheral microtubule doublets. DNAH10 is an inner arm dynein heavy chain.

Maiti et al. (2000) used human nasal epithelial cells after in vitro ciliogenesis to clone a cDNA fragment of the DNAH10 gene. By phylogenetic sequence analysis, they determined that DNAH10 belongs to the group of potential inner arm dyneins and is homologous to rat DLP10. RT-PCR analysis indicated that DNAH10 is highly expressed in brain, testis, and trachea, but not in adult heart.Using fluorescence in situ hybridization and radiation hybrid analysis, Maiti et al. (2000) mapped the DNAH10 gene to chromosome 13q14.
