B-Cell Novel Protein 1 (BCNP1)

By analyzing membrane proteins expressed in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, followed by database analysis and PCR of spleen and Daudi cell line cDNA libraries, Boyd et al. (2003) cloned 3 BCNP1 variants with different alternatively spliced final exons. The deduced 652-, 667-, and 698-amino acid proteins differ at their C termini and contain 3 transmembrane domains. Quantitative RT-PCR detected highest BCNP1 expression in B-cell malignancies. In normal tissues, highest expression was detected in lymph node and spleen, with little to no expression in other tissues, including other hemopoietic tissues. Database analysis identified BCNP1 ESTs from B-cell cDNA libraries only.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the BCNP1 gene to chromosome 19 .
