Semaphorin 5B (SEMA5B)
[Edit]SEMAG; SemG; Sema Domain,Immunoglobulin Domain(Ig),Transmembrane Domain(TM)and Short Cytoplasmic Domain 5B
Members of the semaphorin protein family, such as SEMA5B, are involved in axonal guidance during neural development. The deduced 1,093-amino acid protein contains an N-terminal signal sequence, followed by a semaphorin domain, 7 thrombospondin type-1 repeats, a putative transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. It also has 13 conserved cysteines and a conserved N-glycosylation site. Northern blot analysis of whole mouse embryos detected Semg at embryonic day 10, and its expression decreased toward birth. During development, Semg was expressed exclusively in the neuroepithelium along the entire anterioposterior axis. In adult animals, Semg was detected only in brain. The deduced 1,202-amino acid protein shares 93% identity with mouse Semg.
