Using SDS-PAGE, Hutchins et al. (2010) found that MOZART2A had an apparent molecular mass of about 16.2 kD.Using gene tagging on BACs, protein localization, and tandem-affinity purification-mass spectrometry, Hutchins et al. (2010) showed that MOZART1 (C13ORF37), MOZART2A, and MOZART2B (FAM128B) copurified with subunits of the gamma-tubulin ring complex (gamma-TuRC), which is essential for spindle assembly and chromosome segregation.
Hartz (2010) mapped the FAM128A gene to chromosome 2q21.1 based on an alignment of the FAM128A sequence with the genomic sequence (GRCh37).
