ARHGAPs, such as ARHGAP22, encode negative regulators of Rho GTPases, which are implicated in actin remodeling, cell polarity, and cell migration.Katoh and Katoh (2004) determined that the 698-amino acid ARHGAP22 protein has an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain, followed by a RhoGAP domain and a C-terminal coiled-coil domain.
Katoh and Katoh (2004) determined that the ARHGAP22 gene contains at least 10 exons.By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2004) mapped the ARHGAP22 gene to chromosome 10q11. The region containing ARHGAP22 and that containing ARHGAP24 on chromosome 4q21 appear to be paralogous.
