Small Integral Membrane Protein 3 (SMIM3)
[Edit]NID67; C5orf62; NGF-Induced Differentiation Clone 67 Protein
NID67 encoding a deduced hydrophobic, 60-amino acid protein with a predicted central transmembrane domain and phosphorylation sites in the C terminus. It contains a putative signal sequence, but was not cleaved by active microsomes in vitro.
Human NID67 shares 85% sequence identity with the rat homolog. Northern blot analysis of rat tissues detected high expression in heart, ovary, and adrenal; moderate expression in most brain regions, testis, thyroid, thymus, pituitary, kidney, and intestine; and low expression in skeletal muscle and cerebellum. NGF and fibroblast growth factor (FGF), both of which cause PC12 cells to differentiate, elicited a stronger induction of NID67 than either EGF or TPA. Forskolin, A23187, and ATP also strongly induced NID67.
Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
