RNF214 Contains 1 RING-type zinc finger. a motif present in a variety of functionally distinct proteins and known to be involved in protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. The mouse counterpart of this protein has been shown to interact with Ube2l3/UbcM4, which is an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme involved in embryonic development. E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which accepts ubiquitin from E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes UBE2L3 and UBE2L6 in the form of a thioester and then directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. Lacks the His residue in the RING-type domain 2 that is one of the conserved features of the family. A RING (Really Interesting New Gene) finger domain is a protein structural domain of zinc finger type which contains a Cys3HisCys4 amino acid motif which binds two zinc cations.
