Pseudorabies Virus (PRV) is a herpesvirus belonging to herpesvirus family, Alphaherpesvirinae subfamily, that causes pseudorabies in swine, resulting in breeding pig reproductive disorders, fattening pigs slow growth, Suckling piglets high mortality. PRV is a double-stranded DNA virus, in the viral envelope, there are a total of 11 different glycoproteins named gB, gC, gD, gE, gG, gH, gI, gK gL, gM, and gN. Glycoprotein E (gE) gene is the main virulence gene of PRV, and the protein encoded by the gE gene plays an important role in mediating virus entry fusion, virus particles release, and the neurotrophic activity of viruses. PRV with gE gene deletion maintain immunogenicity but significantly reduced virulence. gE is a key protein involved in PRV's invasion of trigeminal and olfactory pathways. PRV gE gene Deletion can significantly reduce the virulence of the virus, limiting neuronal cell infection.
