Human Papillomavirus type 52 (HPV52) is a virus that belongs to the papillomavirus family and is closely associated with the development of cervical cancer, classified as a high-risk HPV type. The Human Papillomavirus type 52 L1 protein (HPV52 L1) is the primary capsid protein of HPV52 and has the ability to self-assemble into virus-like particles (VLPs), playing a crucial role in the formation of the viral particles. These VLPs have a morphology and immunological profile similar to that of the natural virus, capable of eliciting a strong immune response that leads to the production of neutralizing antibodies, and they can be used in the production of vaccines. Currently, vaccines that include HPV52 L1 antigens are available on the market to prevent infections and related diseases caused by HPV52.
