Rectal Microvascular Endothelial Cells (RMEC)

Microvascular endothelial cells play a central role in inflammation, tumor metastasis, wound healing and tissue engineering. They lead to many biological processes, such as hemostasis, coagulation, and lymphocyte trafficking. Microvascular endothelial cells migrate to the damaged site to form a new blood vessel.

The rectum is the origin of the anus from a section of the large intestine. The rectum is surrounded by a fat and non longitudinal band, which is located on the dorsal side of the bladder and reproductive organs. Rectal microvascular endothelial cells (RMEC) are closely associated with the progression of rectal cancer. RMEC is a useful model for studying the mechanisms of angiogenesis and the development of therapeutic schemes for rectal cancer.
